On May 15, 2025, Sinfonia Smith Square and the Berkeley Ensemble will present a concert dedicated to Luciano Berio’s arrangements of some of The Beatles’ greatest hits, including Michelle, Ticket to Ride, and Yesterday, alongside works by John McCabe and Maurice Ravel.

Despite initial appearances, The Beatles and Berio had much in common and openly expressed mutual admiration for each other’s work. Simply listening to Revolution 9 and the third movement of Berio’s Sinfonia back-to-back reveals their striking similarities.
