Masterclass on Berio’s Cello and Piano Music at the Reggia di Venaria
As part of the Reggia di Venaria’s program and in collaboration with the Late Spring Music Festival, a masterclass will be held from May 2 to 4, 2025, to mark the 100th anniversary of Luciano Berio’s birth. The event will feature Angela Ida De Benedictis (musicologist and scientific director of the Centro Studi Luciano Berio), Andrea Lucchesini (piano), and Claudio Pasceri (cello), who will guide participants through Berio’s solo piano and cello music. The repertoire will be explored from poetic, technical-instrumental, and aesthetic perspectives.
The masterclass will focus on performance practice related to Berio’s works for piano and cello, as well as the analysis of formal structuring processes in key pieces. These will serve as examples of a compositional approach that can be extended to his entire artistic trajectory.
This masterclass is intended for young Italian and international musicians who already have Berio’s works in their repertoire and/or wish to enhance their skills and deepen their understanding with highly specialized instructors in this field.
