Momenti (author's note)

Momenti
for electronic sounds on tape (1960)

Composed in 1960 at the Studio di Fonologia Musicale in Milan, Momenti consists entirely of electronic sounds: a group of ninety-three sine waves, whose harmonic relationship of a fifth and a seventh generates various types of chords and timbres.
The ninety-three sine waves are never presented all at the same time; only partial aspects of them will be heard through different processes – like occasional moments of a formation. The five situations, or moments, forming the piece follow one another like separate panels, in a display of the different possible faces of the same sound material.
