Per Luciano
May 27 marked the tenth anniversary of Luciano Berio’s passing. The anniversary is being celebrated throughout 2013 with numerous events and concerts featuring his music worldwide. Our Centro Studi chose to pay homage to Berio the man and the artist by creating a new section in the website, Per Luciano, containing a wealth of testimonials, unpublished documents and images which friends, colleagues and long-standing collaborators have been kind enough to contribute to commemorate this anniversary.

Publication of the television series C'è musica & musica
As from June 19 2013 the boxed set containing the historic television series C’è musica & musica, devised in 1972 by Luciano Berio for the RAI, with Vittoria Ottolenghi as curator and Gianfranco Mingozzi as producer, will finally be on sale in bookshops. Published in Feltrinelli’s Real Cinema series, in collaboration with Rai-Trade and the Centro Studi Luciano Berio, the boxed set (curated by Angela Ida De Benedictis) contains the whole series – 12 programmes in colour – plus a volume with contributions from Umberto Eco, Michele dall’Ongaro, Ulrich Mosch, texts by Luciano Berio dating back to the period of the broadcasts, the transcription of all the programmes effected by Federica Di Gasbarro and a selection of documents. The publication will be presented at the forthcoming MiTo Festival on September 16 2013 in Milan by Umberto Eco, Michele dall'Ongaro, Talia Pecker Berio and others (for information on this event click here). Il teatro di Luciano Berio project: final two days
On September 28 and 29 2013 the two final meetings in the project Il teatro di Luciano Berio will be held at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Venice. The first day is devoted to Cronaca del Luogo, with the participation of Michal Grover Friedlander, Francesco Giomi, Massimiliano Locanto, Ulrich Mosch, Talia Pecker Berio, Alessandro Roccatagliati. The next day the members of the Scientific Committee and other scholars (including Fabrizio Della Seta) will present an overview of the complete proceedings and draw conclusions for the project as a whole.
Organized in a series of meetings that have taken place between 2010 and 2013, «Il teatro musicale di Luciano Berio» has seen the collaboration of the D.M.C.E., Université Paris VIII, the Centro Studi Luciano Berio and the Fondazione Cini, Venezia. With the aim of developing a thorough-going reflection on Berio’s output for the stage and its bearing on his creative and aesthetic development, each meeting featured a single work of music theatre (Passaggio, Opera, La vera storia, Un re in ascolto, Outis, Cronaca del Luogo). The papers presented at the first four days are available on the website of the D.M.C.E.: http://www2.univ-paris8.fr/DMCE/page.php?page=9 (it is necessary to carry out a simple enrolment procedure to visualise the texts). The publication of the definitive proceedings in book form is scheduled for 2015.

Study day in Siena, 24 October 2013
A study day entitled Poetica implicita vs poetica esplicita: gli scritti teorici di Luciano Berio will take place on 24 October 2013 as part of the international PhD program in Storia delle Arti e dello Spettacolo (Regione Toscana Pegaso 2012 fellowships). The moderator will be Fiamma Nicolodi, and the participants Angela Ida De Benedictis, Mila De Santis, Talia Pecker Berio, Giorgio Pestelli, Antonio Prete and Veniero Rizzardi. The study day, organized in collaboration with the Centro Studi Luciano Berio, will be held at the Università di Siena, Dipartimento delle Scienze Storiche e dei Beni Culturali, beginning at 9:30.

Reprint of the journal «Incontri Musicali»
The Centro Studi Luciano Berio, is promoting the anastatic reproduction of the historic journal «Incontri Musicali» which appeared between 1956 and 1960. The boxed set featuring the four issues, identical to the originals, will be published by Archinto in collaboration with Edizioni Suvini Zerboni and is due out in January 2014.
